Autism Rises to 1 in 36: More Parents Should Start Asking WHY?
The Center for Disease Control just released their latest results on autism and developmental disabilities. And the results are shocking:
In 2014 the rate of autism was 1 in 45 children
In 2015 there was a slight rise to 1 in 43 kids
The new 2016 number jumped to 1 in 36 kids
1 in 36 children in the United States have autism. For boys it’s 1 in 28 – three times higher than in girls. And an important note: the new findings also show 1 in 14 children have a developmental disability (autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, or developmental delay). 1 in 14!
After decades of denial that autism and other developmental disorders are truly on the rise, our medical community and government can no longer ignore this reality. And the even more important question that all parents should be asking is WHY? What are we now doing to our children that we weren’t doing 30 years ago? Why is autism becoming MORE prevalent, when we are supposed to be getting better at health care and modern research should be giving us better answers? Maybe the first step is making sure the right research is even being done.
